Brian Griffin noted that we (as a club) turn 100 in 2017. He recounted the last big milestone of 50 years as a time when he (Brian Griffin) was President, they met at the Leopold and Horace Griggs (John’s grandfather), Stu Blythe, Bob Diehl, Jack Mulhern and Ron Jepson were noted as members that year.
He recalled that in 1969 there was a move afoot to put apartments along what is now Boulevard Park, the permit was not granted and thence started the move to preserve the waterfront, prevent loss of view, provide public access and an eventual park. Rotary stepped in early 1974 to help move the project forward. In 1980 Boulevard Park held its dedication ceremony, a major accomplishment for Rotary and Bellingham.

Booie Borden is the first of her family to graduate from College, she is a single Mom , was Student Body President and graduate from the Precision Machining Program and now works at Intalco.
Chris Zacharias was in an auto accident, which resulted in his being a quadriplegic, got involved on the Student Leadership team, involved in Accessibility Resources, graduated with a Civil Engineering degree earning placement on the President’s List.
Kim mentioned this was only a small sampling of the terrific students attending BTC. She then released us to go on our various campus tours.
