With his usual vigor and grace President John Moffat called us to order, and some of us actually obeyed. He noted that Seattle had relatively good results in athletics this past weekend, with the Huskies winning, the Mariners splitting the home stand, but the Seahawks lost to a last-minute field goal. Oh well, can’t win them all, I guess.
Bob Kuenzel led us in the song “Somewhere to Begin”, a song about hope. And Steve Grey gave the invocation, urging us to action to make the community better.

Larry Halgren made an announcement regarding the November 18th joint Brainstorming Club meeting:
Larry told us that there will be an important meeting of Whatcom County Rotary Clubs on November 18 from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Hotel Bellwether. All are invited. The topic will focus on the reduced membership of Rotary Clubs everywhere. The agenda will be to have a serious discussion about recruitment and possibly the consolidation of one or more Clubs. The meeting will include members of the Clubs from Whatcom North, Bellingham Bay, Sunrise, Mt. Baker, Ferndale and RCOB. The meeting will have a question-and-answer format, with no plans to make final decisions that day. Larry urged us to sign up through Clubrunner Events. CLICK HERE FOR LINK
Happy Bucks involved trivia about our revered President John. This was inverse of the “program”. The program was “Find Someone Who…” by Prexy John, and involved finding out trivia about other members. We were to fill out a questionnaire by interviewing other club members. The questions were similar to “Find someone married for more than 50 years.”
This was an effort to involve us all to get to know the members of the club by finding out facts about them. So, there was little for this humble reporter to report on. I did notice that near the end of the time there seemed to be a conclave that formed in the corner near the exit doors. Whether that location was significant, was indeterminate. This was a good exercise to determine which pens the club has were actually working.
At the end of the session, there was a short debriefing. No startling facts were discovered. More’s the pity…
Closing:
The Prez called a halt to the proceedings, advised us to do good in the world, rang the bell and released us to the larger community.
RCOB apparel, including polo shirts, dress shirts, vests and hats is now available. These are items that every Club member simply must have in his/her wardrobe!
