Board Brief – November 10, 2015
Monty McAllister attended the meeting to ask if the Board was interested in him looking into bringing back the Student Exchange Program that we supported for years. We eventually stopped around 2011 because of lack of hosts and visa difficulties. The club would be looking at an annual budget of around $6,000 per student. The Board is very interested and Teri Treat suggested we look into working with another clubs also. Monty will proceed looking into this by determining if there is membership interest.
The Board discussed a suggestion for the 2017-2018 Major project and will be considered further.
The Stop Hunger Now Whatcom County Rotary Project is set for February 27, 2016 and we approved a club contribution of $1,500, plus a $1,500 matching donation coming from a very generous member of our club, for a total of $3,000. We have additional donations of $7,000 from the other Whatcom County Clubs.
Bob Trunek attended the meeting to ask the Board to approve $1,000 for a Malawi School Project. This was approved.
Wacky Wickets final numbers indicate $12,019.61 in proceeds from the 2015 fundraiser and a remaining $3,4887.50 from the 2014 Wacky Wickets for a total of $15,507.11 available for contributions. The Board approved moving $2,000 to the RCOB Foundation for Service Fund projects and will decide how the remaining proceeds are to be used in the future.
