What does it mean to be a blood donor?
It means… that you literally give from your heart- and no pun intended. You come with the understanding that someone else needs you, and you come with a willingness to respond.
It means… you suffer minor temporary discomfort, or perhaps you swallow your fear, to bravely offer something for very little in return.
It means…that you actively participate in the recovery, and therefore the restoration of hope for health and well-being, of another human being -- a stranger.
Your blood donation means that you will touch the lives of others in profound ways- it goes beyond health and science- it is a manifestation of the fundamental respect we have for each other as human beings.
Your blood is constantly needed for many different reasons- cancer, traumas and emergencies, surgeries, blood disorders, etc. And when you make it a priority to donate, you are making a statement that YOU CARE about our community and the people in it.
That is special, and you are truly AWESOME for your commitment.
