"Looking Forward in 2021: celebrating farmers and families through a pandemic"
Program Description: In response to COVID-19 destroying the food supply chain, EastWest Food Rescue was born. EWFR has grown from a single Facebook post that recruited the first four volunteers to rescue 18,000 pounds of crops to as of the end of 2020 having saved or moved over TWENTY-SEVEN MILLION pounds of food, providing over 21,900,000 meals to families experiencing food insecurity. EastWest Food Rescue addresses and supports the following areas of need: Food and Nutrition Insecurity, Food Waste, Farmers, and Public Health. Hear part of the leadership team share on the approaches used to rescue, procure, and glean food to distribute more than 27 million pounds of food in 2020 and how we will continue to serve those in-need during 2021.
